Association between sleep disorders and child violence assessed in Southern Brazil

Aims: identifying sleep disorders (SDs) in children who experienced child maltreatment.Methods: the study evaluated pattern of 123 (from 2 to 10 years old), received assistance with maltreatment, based on Children’s Sleep Habits Questionnaire (CSHQ) – applied a medical consultation after confirmation veracity child’s report violation. The questionnaire seen by doctors sector for 11 months.Results: among evaluated, 66.7% had SDs. sample profile was predominantly female (59.3%) and aged between 4 7 old (48.8%). Physical violence found 40.7% children, addition sexual (35.8%), psychological (24.4%), negligence (14.6%) other types (OTV) (4.5%). SDs are significantly associated sexual, OTV (p=0.016). Regarding subscales, there significant difference age groups bedtime resistance (BR) factor score (p=0.033). BR characteristic typifies OTV. anxiety (SA) more psychological, Night awakenings (NAs) typify physical violence. According type violence, differences were SA (p=0.039), NAs (p=0.026) (p=0.004).Conclusions: outcomes highlight association maltreatment. Certain have greater negative impact children’s correlate specific SD.
